Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. is a collection of 72 modern, african, urban tales of fiction of murder, manslaughter, homicide, fetichism, human parts trade, drugs, human trafficking, violence, adultery, deceipt, ghosts, witchcraft, blackmail and animal sacrifice. Horror, drama, suspense, terror, puzzle, mystery, scandal, embarrassment, myth, surprise, comedy, humor, glamor, splendor and generosity are some of the words with which to describe the incidents and events which take place in Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. Some of the tales are inspired by the observations, reports, rumors, gossip, acts, reactions and behavior of some of the thousands of city passengers carried along some millions of kilometers, up and down city and country roads, day and night, year round. The other tales are inspired by incidents and accidents which at times befall city taxi drivers. These incidents vividly depict human greed, deceit, vice, scheming, lust, evil and scandal. The tales expose the different risks and hazards, natuaral and unnatural, which drivers, their passengers or both face during the run from the departure to the destination point, the different ways in which the protagonists and the antagonists deal with such a risk or hazard and the balance sheet of the losses and victories. The tales clearly narrate the good fortune which lands upon those drivers or passengers whose stars above shine brightly. Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. also opens a window into the psychology of the drivers and passengers from the point of their first contact, along the hired taxi trip, until the final destination. In that sense, the hired taxi trip is not just a simple physical ride. It turns out to be a game of the minds. The Collection is divided into 6 series running from A-F. Series A consists of tales of horror and drama. Series B is tales of mystery and puzzle. Series C is about romantic fantasy, scandals and embarassment. Series D contains stories of urban rumors, speculation, myths and surprises. Comedy, humor and laughter are in Series E. Series F consists of tales of winning the hearts and minds of people. The Collection is about a taxi company, Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. which owns a fleet of 72 taxis which are driven by men and women of ages ranging from 18 to 71. Their individual driving experiences vary from a few days to 50 years in some cases. The taxis are assigned to a taxi rank or to designated urban taxi operational zones and it is in these zones or beyond them as well as across the borders that the Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. drivers, their passengers and their vehicles encounter experiences of different character and dimension. As a company, Talkville City Metered Taxis Inc. has been in existence for well over 50 years, having been established towards the middle of 1949. Over these long years, the company has grown bigger in size, wisdom, experience, staff complement, professionalism and profit-making. A Board of Directors consisting of all the company's shareholders makes the company's policy. All the 20 shareholders of the company are members of the Board whose Executive arm leads the Board under the leadership of an elected President for a limited period of 5 years. The Talkville City Management Team is answerable to the Board. Under it fall different departments including Reception, Administration, Public Relations, Finance, Human Resources, Communication and Control Room and the Loans Department. The company runs a Social Welfare program and an independant Staff Association is an integral part of the company. Talkville City is a capital city of about 5 million people and it is in and around this city that all the events narrated in the stories take place from.
