Raised between the UK and East Asia, Markus Taylor has lived and worked throughout the East Asian region, as an Educator, Reporter and Travel Guide writer.
Between "Both Worlds," as the West were he was raised, often collides with the East were he spent most of his life. This led him to write about the experiences and things he saw in the region, particularly Jakarta; One of East Asia's biggest yet least known Cities.
"Tales from the Big Durian," is his first travel book, bordering on non-fiction and fiction, the tales are actual true life beliefs, events and stories that occur on a daily basis in the City of Jakarta.
Some the stories may sound sad to many readers, others joyful and full of hope but the often surreal World of a City, and its people is deeply embedded into each story.
Tales that could invoke a variety of feelings, but also entertain in a light, humorous way and create the actual World of a unique City in transit, inside the pages of a book called, "Tales from the Big Durian."
