Sara Bonds Ramsey was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in a close knit family environment with a large extended family. Reading, drawing, painting, and visits to her grandparents' farms near Oxford, MS were among her favorite things.

After graduating, she was a commercial artist until she and her husband, with their year old daughter, moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They raised three children there, and now have four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Thanks to the encouragement of her children, and especially her son, she began the story, not realizing it would become a book. The many happy vacations spent on her grandparents' farms, as she was growing up, were the source of Mrs. Ramsey's knowledge of country life. Writing this book was one of her greatest pleasures.

Mrs. Ramsey painted for many years, in oils and acrylics, earning several awards.

"Hallie Bell Walks to Texas" is her only book. She and her husband now live in Vero Beach, Florida.
