In my opinion, there are two main kinds of tourist guides. First is for prepared specialists. It contains detailed description of the monuments accompanied by deep insight into certain ?poque, it's social and political features, biographies of it's figures, etc. Guides of this kind are usually difficult for understanding by unprepared reader, and they often wait for a specialist on a book store's shelf for a long time.
Guides of second kind are for amateur tourists thirsty for "bread and show", pleasures and knowledge. Pleasures disappear soon while knowledge and impression remain in a tourist's memory.
Our guide of Eternal City is for tourists who seek not only pleasures but new knowledge. I strived to show in a small book as many major monuments and landmarks of ancient, medieval and modern Rome as possible. I also tried to acquaint the reader with their creators, feature urban life in Roma in different times, and tell about some people.
All this information is arranged by seven tourist routes. Each of them contains monuments of ancient, medieval and modern times. Routes suppose seven days of staying in Rome. It's minimal duration for making acquaintance with the Eternal City.
I didn't forget about pleasures, especially on the part of our wives or girlfriends. Indeed, there is Divine Italy, where everything is marked with good taste and trendy elegancy.
Welcome to Rome!
