"How to Defeat the Tobacco Demon the New Way" by Emil Stephen is a revolutionary self-help stop smoking program which is completely different from any other.
Its phenomenal success is due to the application of a recognised scientific principal that forms the bases of all serious improvement programmes in different fields of achievement in the worlds of sport athletics, gymnastics, artistic endeavour and personal growth and development, that of setting oneself increasing challenging, achievable short-term goals. The plan involves Smoking Days on which you smoke your normal number of cigarettes, and Smoke-Free periods of very gradually increasing duration.
The book begins with a short introductory section explaining exactly how the plan works, and describing the benefits of following this method. This introduction is followed by 64 daily notes. There is nothing especially magic about this number. The chart which represents the two month program visually is 8 squares by 8 squares or 64 days rather than 61 or 62 which would be two months exactly, but the plan is open-ended anyway. It is possible to complete it early or go on for longer according to one's individual requirements.
The notes for each day of the plan constitute the main section of the book and fulfil a number of different functions. They are first and foremost inspirational, giving the support needed to keep to the rhythmic structure of the plan. In addition they are a treasure chest of suggestions, advice, information, warnings and encouragement.
